Surviving 2012:
Healing the Self
Many First Nation prophecies speak of an enormous change that is coming to our planet on or around the year 2012. These prophecies are not encouraging; they speak of great chaos, of Earth changes, even of a great culling of humanity. Even the blind – and we have been blind - are now able to see that we stand at a crossroads. Everyone on Earth is becoming aware that chaos is at the door, knocking with growing loudness for our attention, clamouring for us to wake up. We are running out of excuses. We can no longer bury our heads in the sand. The old ways are failing and if we choose to pretend that they are not, we will fail right along with them.
The changes of 2012 are actually offering us a unique opportunity to grow as a species. They are nothing short of an evolutionary quantum leap that will culminate with a new human walking upon this Earth. The Inca shamans and others speak of a new luminous being that is to evolve from the old Homo sapiens. Quantum changes have happened before. When Homo sapiens first appeared on earth the older and less adaptable, less creative Neanderthal did not disappear overnight. They mimicked the creativity of Homo sapiens, but because of their inability to adapt at a core level eventually Neanderthal vanished completely from the living Earth and became part of the archaeological record.
We are at a similar place now. The Call that is being sent to us is this time one of expanded consciousness. We are being asked to take the wool out of our eyes and see what until now has been invisible to most of us. The materialistic, greedy and ego centric ways of mismanaging ourselves, our fellow humans and our brothers and sisters in animal form as well as the natural world, have brought us to the brink of the abyss. Everything fundamental to OUR survival is beginning to fail around us. So what can we do?
It is clear that the root cause of our present predicament can be found in the human ego, which can be perhaps more readily understood simply as our unhealed self. This unhealed self causes us to perceive the world as separate, divided, frightening and dangerous. The unhealed self is never in the present moment, but is constantly referencing to a tragic past and projecting fearfully into the future. It is responsible for all of the fear, the hatred, the greed and the violence to be found in the world today.
The call is for us to shed this destructive aspect of ourselves. The call is for us to bring healing to it, to ourselves. But how do we do that? One way that I am aware of is through a recently emerged but ancient tradition: the Munay Ki of the Inca shamans. This path gives us a clear and purposeful map for us to move away from the brink of our personal and collective destruction. There are nine Rites offered in the Munay Ki, these are initiatory transmissions that set us on the path to rectifying this sorry state of affairs. The first four of these Rites set in place a solid foundation of healing upon which the new energies of the luminous ones can then be brought in and anchored.
The first of these is the Healer’s Rite. This Rite starts the healing process – only not at a psychological or physical level, but purely at an energetic level. In order to do this we invoke upon three powers. The first is the Power to Manifest, for if we cannot manifest, how can we bring about healing? The second is the Power to Love, for it is only through the divine love of Spirit that any healing ever takes place. The third is the Power to Vision, so that we can travel forward to envision a future healed state and bring that back into the now and set upon a course to attain it. Through the power of this Rite we stop identifying with the old tired stories of our past.
The second is the Bands of Power Rite. This Rite sets in place five bands of essential protection to deal with any negative energies that come our way and transmute them into life-giving energies that nourish instead of depleting us. The Bands of Power are elemental and offer us the protection of Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Light.
The third is the Harmony Rite. This Rite works to clear out the psychic sludge that has accumulated in our energy centres (chakras), residue from past trauma and past lives, by planting four organizing principles of creation as seeds into the four lower chakras and three protective guardian energies into the three higher chakras.
The fourth Rite is the Seer’s Rite. This Rite awakens our ability to perceive the invisible world, the world of energy around us. It also allows us to see those parts of ourselves that we have not wanted to see, so that they can also be brought into the light and healed. This Rite gifts us with the ability to simply drop the past, not one tiny painful bit at a time – as is done in psychotherapy or other approaches – but all at once, in just one go; just like a serpent sheds its skin. When the seer is awakened the world becomes like a blank canvas for us to dream a new reality upon.
Once this foundation is established higher energies are brought in and anchor into our luminous energy fields. These energies, when nurtured, will continue to raise our vibration and lift us into higher realms of expanded consciousness and foster our transformation into Homo Luminous, the new order of human on Earth. The reality we walk in will change with us until the Earth will be, once again, the sacred garden it once was. And we humans will find that we are no longer ‘cast out’, but an intrinsic part of the new whole.
