Nirvana Shatakam As a young boy of just eight, Adi Shankara roamed the Himalayas looking for his guru. He encountered a sage who asked him, "Who are you?" The boy answered with these stanzas, which are known as "Nirvana Shatakam" or "Atma Shatakam." These "Six Stanzas of Salvation" summarize the entirety of Advaita Vedanta (non-dualistic philosophy). They are very beautiful and are reputed to have tremendous value in contemplation and meditation practices that lead to Self-Realization.
